1st Shift Material Handler

About the role

Full-time, hourly position on the 1st shift in the Production department at our Wallingford, CT facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform all material handling and control operations for Shipping and Receiving.
• Operate company vehicle to make pick-ups and deliveries of material between the local community and plant (seldom over a 5-mile radius).
• Use mechanized and manual material handling aids as necessary to transport and position material following established methods and procedures.
• Locate and identify items; count and/or verify count as necessary. Stack items on pallets or load into bins as required.
• Receive incoming materials such as compounds and wire, and store for future use.
• Transport, move, and handle material within the department as required.
• Exercise care in handling and stacking items to avoid injuries to others, damages to supplies, product, or equipment.
• Check fuel, lubricate, and add coolant in equipment.
• Detect and report defective material, faulty operation, and unusual conditions to supervision.
• Follow prescribed Safety Regulations.
• Assist with all/any other projects as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of MRP Systems (preferably Oracle).
• Experience in warehouse processes.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to stand, twist, and bend up to 50% of the time.
• Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.

Pay

$24.63 per hour.
