1st shift Lab Technician

About the role

The Lab Technician works with AS400/I5 system fabric samples, laminate samples, quartz yarn, and other quartz specialty products. The role involves conducting physical properties testing, making and testing laminates, preparing ballistics shoot packs, and performing testing on quartz yarn and related specialty products while adhering to applicable industry test methods and requirements. Test results are compared to industry standards or customer specifications and entered into the Labware database system. The technician also assists with various projects, production trials, and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve and handle fabric, laminate, quartz yarn, and other quartz specialty product samples in the AS400/I5 system.
• Conduct physical properties testing on fabric samples.
• Make and test laminates.
• Prepare ballistics shoot packs.
• Test quartz yarn and other quartz specialty products according to industry test methods.
• Compare test results to applicable industry standards and/or customer specifications.
• Enter test data into the Labware database system.
• Assist in various projects, production trials, and data collection activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of experience in a physical testing laboratory, or advanced studies beyond high school plus two years of testing laboratory experience, or an associate’s degree in a laboratory or material science (preferred).

Skills

• Strong reading, math, and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with personal computers, especially Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, AS400/I5, and Labware.
