1st & 2nd Shift Groundsperson

Silver Hill Quarry, a division of H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a safety-focused, detail-oriented Groundsperson for 1st and 2nd shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies in a safe and professional manner.
• Conduct plant maintenance and maintain clean work areas, including catwalks, walkways, and general plant space.
• Proactively learn plant functions and operations to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Take direction from and collaborate with site personnel as part of a team.
• Cross-train to learn all plant jobs and substitute as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED) from an accredited institution or related experience and/or training.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass a fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical job requirements, including movement and lifting.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ months of related experience.
• Experience operating heavy equipment, with a strong preference for loader operation.
• Experience in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial settings.
• MSHA or other relevant safety certification.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand and walk.
• Frequently required to: use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Specific vision needs include depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
• Noise level is usually loud.
