About the role
The primary responsibility of the Certified Non-Destructive Test Technician Level 2 is to test and inspect parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particle.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
- Maintain safety precautions and keep the work area clean and orderly.
- Perform specific inspections and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results.
- Conduct NDT examinations in conjunction with receipt and in-process inspections on material purchased for fabrication.
- Demonstrate proficiency with tools and equipment used for inspections.
- Determine the calibration status of inspection and measuring equipment to ensure proper condition for use.
- Assist production in setting up material and/or components for receipt inspection as required.
- Train other individuals as required by management.
Requirements
- Must be qualified to be certified as a Level 2 to NAS 410 in one or more of the following NDT methods: Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) or Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI). Certifications must be current.
- Ability to communicate, read, and understand English.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to follow precise instructions.
- Ability to work around hazardous chemicals.
- Excellent hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- Able to multitask and open to working overtime.
- Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires the employee to be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
Qualifications
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of inspection-related experience.
- Preferred: 2 years of inspection-related experience.
Physical Demands
- Must demonstrate the ability to read the equivalent of the size and letters of the Jaeger I chart at a minimum distance of 12 inches.
- Must distinguish and differentiate contrasts between colors illustrated on an Ishihara Test Chart.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- May work alone with minimal supervision or with other personnel.
- Must possess fundamental written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be fluent (written and verbal) in the English language.
- Computer skills, especially familiarity with MS Office applications, are necessary.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.
