About the role
Exemplifies and ensures strong customer service in all aspects of the job. Directs and controls the operation of the Seafood Department to achieve sales and profit objectives. As a primary contact for customers, the Seafood Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service and is accountable for the department’s results in providing superior service, increasing sales, improving gain, and containing cost.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service as defined by the employer within company policy.
- Train, schedule, and supervise seafood clerks to ensure optimum staffing patterns.
- Resolve customer problems related to the operation of the Seafood department.
- Follow division guidelines for implementation of the merchandising program.
- Operate electronic scanning scale to record weight of packaged items and apply price tags.
- Obtain special-order items for customers from the case.
- Maintain cleanliness of the seafood area, including wiping spills, cleaning surfaces, and equipment.
- Replace stock in displays and remove expired items daily.
- Perform daily inventory and order necessary product and supplies.
- Monitor inter-office mail and company web page daily for updates.
- Create signs for the department as needed.
- Cut, weigh, wrap, and package seafood for sale.
- Clean product, weigh, wrap, and place in display area.
- Order supplies and receive shipments.
- Log temperature in freezer and cooler and maintain area cleanliness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
- Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
- Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to work independently when necessary.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Desired: Prior management experience.

- Seafood Clerks
Work Environment
- 100% inside work, with rare outside exposure.
- Temperature extremes: 0-42°F, including freezer and cooler environments (visited 2 times per day).
- Minimal chemical use (self-cleaning departments may use some chemicals).
- Safety-sensitive position: tasks or duties could affect the safety or health of the employee or others.
Pay
The pay range is $28.85 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
