About the role
Technical Engineers in the Army National Guard are responsible for developing the skills necessary to assist in the planning and execution of construction projects. This includes tasks such as construction site development, including technical investigations, surveys, drafting, and the creation of construction plans and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Draw topographic maps and charts using Computer Aided Drafting systems and software
- Conduct geodetic and construction surveys and results utilizing Automated Integrated Survey Instruments and Global Positioning Survey Technology
- Provide technical support for vertical and horizontal construction projects
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Schedule
Training for a Technical Engineer in the Army National Guard consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and 17 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, which may include classroom and field work.
