About the event

The 11th German-Brazilian Dialogue on Science, Research and Innovation takes place on 7–8 May 2025 in São Paulo. It is organised by the German Centre for Science and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). This year's theme is "Artificial Intelligence: Promises, Expectations, and Limitations in Science and Society". The event will be held in English, with online streaming via the DWIH São Paulo YouTube channel (with Portuguese translation) and FAPESP's channel (in the original language).

Objectives

Bringing together experts from Brazil and Germany, from academia and industry, the Dialogue aims to discuss artificial intelligence (AI) and its functionalities, promises, and limitations. Four topics will guide the event: AI in medicine and health; AI in science and engineering; regulation of AI impacts; and AI in the humanities. The goal is to elucidate, in an interdisciplinary manner, the implications of the technology and the paths that need to be followed to mitigate the negative effects of its use.
