About the Role

Community of Peace Academy is an urban public charter school located on the East Side of St. Paul, Minnesota, serving over 800 students in grades PreK to 12. We are a multicultural community committed to educating the whole person—mind, body, and will—for peace, justice, freedom, compassion, wholeness, and fullness of life for all.

The 10th Grade Math Teacher will teach Geometry, one elective class per semester, and serve as the Advisory/Ethics Teacher for a cohort of 9th grade students, focusing on Personal Ethics.

Responsibilities

• Teach Geometry to 10th grade students.
• Teach one elective class per semester.
• Serve as the Advisory/Ethics Teacher for a cohort of 9th grade students, with a focus on Personal Ethics.
• Develop rapport with learners of diverse backgrounds.
• Support students in attaining high academic and ethical standards of performance.
• Implement Developmental Designs (DD) practices across grades 7-12 to build community and encourage character development.

Requirements

• Minnesota Teaching license in Mathematics.
• Strong understanding of the Minnesota Academic Standards in Math.
• Commitment to helping all students achieve high academic and ethical standards.

Professional Development & Support

• Internal coaching and support for implementing Developmental Designs (DD) practices.
• Weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
• Structured common planning time.
• Frequent observation and coaching.
• Assigned Mentor for all new teachers.
