About the role

The position involves installing, assembling, and maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various structures in compliance with site assessments and schematics. It requires the use of appropriate tools and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to install PV systems.
  • Lay-out, assemble, and install solar modules/panels and support structures.
  • Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Clean tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Engage in safety-related processes and programs.
  • Report accidents and near misses to supervisors.
  • Identify and address safety hazards.
  • Operate construction equipment safely and maintain it.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Assist in the storage, planning, and layout of materials.
  • Inspect field conditions and report any issues.
  • Perform tasks as directed by journeymen.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Experience as a laborer or helper in construction.
  • Knowledge of assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems.
  • Ability to follow directions and understand safety protocols.
  • Tools and equipment certification (NCCER Construction Craft Laborer, NCCER Core Curriculum, NCCER Solar Photovoltaic Systems Installer).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 0-6 months of experience or 0-1000 hours working as a laborer or in a construction craft as a helper.
  • Develop a knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines.

Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 52 pounds.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
