Responsibilities

• Supervises the daily operations of the Serology, Bacteriology, Tuberculosis and Biodefense (LRN) Branches as well as the STAT Lab by coordinating work assignments and activities.
• Aids in the development of new laboratory procedures in conjunction with the quality control manager.
• Develops, maintains and updates existing protocols and procedures as needed.
• Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives and provides assistance to the planning and management of all laboratory services.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulators.
• Completes staff performance evaluations and makes recommendations relating to recruitment, terminations and other personnel related actions.
• Assists in the development and administration of the laboratory budget, including providing input on budget development, staff allocations, and recommendations.
• Represents the department by making presentations, providing information and testimony, collaborating with customers and other state agencies and federal partners.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
• Four (4) years of work related experience in a clinical lab setting to include one (1) year supervisory experience.
