About the Role
Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition. They are the face of our company, building lasting relationships with our customers.
Responsibilities
- Drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time, in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring questions are answered accurately and promptly.
- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report safety issues and required repairs.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report all safety hazards.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly, including freight documentation and hours-of-service logs.
- Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy; verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures.
- Collect payments (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
- Unload equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers, and perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
- Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A License.
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (10–90 pounds) throughout the shift.
Pay
- $10,000 Sign-On Bonus.
- $1,600+ Weekly Base Pay + $375 Weekly Performance Bonus.
- Earn up to $100,000 in your first year.
- Fast-Track Raises: Opportunity for a pay increase after 6 months.
- Additional pay for overnight and mountain routes.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, with every weekend off.
- Early dispatch: Departures between 3:00 AM – 5:00 AM.
- Paid Time Off: Up to 2 weeks + Sick Leave.
