Performance Responsibilities
- Provides direct instruction to students in need of instructional support and intervention.
- Models instructional techniques in classrooms including direct instruction of readers and writers at all levels.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and presentation skills to accomplish selected objectives.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives.
- Affords assessments of students on a regular basis, collaborating with school personnel as required.
- Demonstrates knowledge in the areas of specialization.
Program Planning
- Aids principals in meeting individual building needs and goals related to student instructional support.
- Aids teachers in the selection and use of materials for providing remedial or enrichment instruction.
- Provides specialized materials and instructional strategies for teachers working with students below or above grade level.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
Program Management
- Works cooperatively with classroom teachers, other specialists and administrators to ensure cohesive programming for students.
- Provides inservice and supervision to instructional aides who assist with student instruction.
- Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
- Aids the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
Interpersonal Relations
- Communicates with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding intervention programming.
- Consults with classroom teachers and/or special teachers regarding student achievement, progress and intervention.
Professionalism
- Maintains personal professional growth plan in intervention strategies and best practices.
- Mets and instructs assigned students in the locations and times designated.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and provides feedback to assist in evaluating their job performance.
- Strives to maintain professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
