1:1 Sped Paraprofessional
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a 1:1 Paraprofessional with Phalen Leadership Academies, you will work with individual and/or small groups of scholars under the supervision of a certified teacher. You will follow educational and behavioral plans and model appropriate behaviors and interactions with students and staff. During non-classroom times, you may function in other support capacities (learning labs, hallway monitoring, lunch duty, etc.) and implement academic curriculum during designated blocks of time.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom.
Work with other professionals, such as speech therapist, social worker, occupational and physical therapists.
Assist building level SPED Department with maintaining student records.
Support students with behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
Administrative Duties
- Assist in the preparation and display of student work
- Assist SPED teacher with preparing materials for students
Education and Experience
- A passion for working with students and families in under-served communities
- 1+ years' experience working with children in an educational setting
- Associate degree in Education or 60 semester hours of college strongly preferred; high school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Educational assessment (ETS Parapro Assessment) with a passing score of 460 required
- Analytical ability to plan individual and group activities that stimulate growth in scholars
- Prior experience with small group instruction preferred
- Interpersonal skills are necessary to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents/guardians, and other staff
