About the role

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide intensive 1-1 support with an individual served in our homes and in the community. The role requires a strong male applicant who can exert maximum muscle force, but all other applicants are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and outcomes.
  • Work as part of a team, complete tasks as instructed, and be receptive to new ideas and problem-solving.
  • Ensure the environment is safe and free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Be an advocate for individuals with disabilities, educating the community on how to interact with those who have disabilities.
  • Maintain people and workplace confidentiality.
  • Document progress towards set goals in both informal and formal settings.
  • Support individuals with managing their finances, maintenance, and protection of personal belongings, arranging for transportation, and engaging in the community.
  • Monitor and document health information continuously.
  • Administer medications, schedule/appoint appointments, and understand instructions from healthcare providers.
  • Encourage healthy eating habits, follow dietary restrictions, and prepare meals as directed by dietitians.
  • Adhere to scheduled work hours and notify supervisors of emergencies.
  • Participate in educational opportunities offered by the company.
  • Provide information to team members about the dreams, goals, strengths, and needs of the people supported.
  • Instruct people on strategies to help them achieve their goals and realize their personal outcomes.
  • Support individuals with maintaining their homes, yards, and vehicles in compliance with health, safety, and company standards.
  • Assist with personal appearance, including education on hygiene and grooming.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals by monitoring and documenting health information.
  • Support individuals with their direct services and making informed choices.

Requirements

  • Experience in supporting people with disabilities.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Auto insurance.
  • Reliable Transportation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, complete tasks as instructed, and be receptive to new ideas and problem-solving.
  • Able to work flexible hours and possibly travel.

Pay

The pay will vary based on experience and will also include a 90-day probationary period.
