Primary Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Secondary Level Teaching Certificate Science endorsement (6-12 or 6-8) and Highly Qualified status required
• Significant experience and/or coursework in related fields
• Related academic endorsements preferred

Position Responsibilities

• Ability to implement and instruct established Grosse Pointe Curriculum
• Incorporates culturally diverse themes in lessons and instruction
• Implements instructional activities that encourage active engagement in meaningful learning experiences
• Selects, modifies, and uses instructional resources to meet the needs of students with various backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
• Affirms changing curricular needs and develops plans for improvement
• Maintains effective and efficient record-keeping procedures
• Creates a positive environment conducive to student learning
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment
• Models professional and ethical standards
• Meets and exceeds course and school-wide student performance goals
• Demonstrates gains in student performance
• Operates efficiently with respect to deadlines, schedules, and coordination

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom
• Able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time
• Able to assist students with physical difficulties
• Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs
• Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete paperwork
