0209 - CASHIER/SALES ASSOCIATE - POOLER

About the Role

As a Store Associate at GATE, you will support the current and future goals of our Stores by adhering to all procedures and programs outlined in the Operations Division. You will participate in daily store operations, including food service, and actively learn, train on, and monitor all current and future programs to ensure GATE standards are upheld.

Responsibilities

• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, while adhering to GATE’s attendance policy.
• Arrive to work on time, in proper uniform and appearance, following GATE standards.
• Attend all required training, safety courses, and departmental meetings.
• Report and follow up on safety hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Reinforce and abide by federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store using strong organizational skills.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on store equipment.
• Operate equipment such as cash registers, money order machines, electronic lottery, Tach II safes, credit card machines, gasoline consoles, and emergency gasoline shutoff valves.
• Handle all payments in accordance with GATE policies.
• Prioritize customer service to ensure a positive and efficient checkout experience.
• Greet customers, assist with product inquiries, and resolve complaints with problem-solving and de-escalation skills.
• Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment through accurate and positive communication.
• Perform store merchandising tasks, including stocking shelves, pricing, blocking and fronting shelves, placing window banners, and ensuring products are in code.
• Complete all other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco products.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Must possess basic reading, writing, and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements over long periods.
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead).
• Ability to work in varying and extreme temperatures.
• Must be able to operate a personal computer.
• Must understand and comply with company policies and procedures relating to robberies and the safe handling of petroleum products.
