Valid NYS Certification in ELA (Grades 7-12) required.

• Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students in developing problem-solving skills
• Desire to create a flexible, student-centered classroom
• Willingness to work as a member of a cooperative team
• Willingness to work cooperatively with special education teachers
• Experience incorporating differentiated instruction in lesson/unit planning
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral
• Strong interpersonal skills with students, faculty, support staff, and parents
• Knowledge of NYS ELA Standards/Performance Indicators and ability to plan lessons for Regents-level courses
• Exceptional, effective classroom management skills
• Knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom
• Proven ability to organize effectively
• Proficiency in modifying curriculum to meet the needs of special education students and advanced learners
• Ability to reflect on and improve teaching practices

Preferred Characteristics

• Willingness to contribute within and outside the department (e.g., advisor, chaperone, club participation)

Pay

$28,320 - $32,220 per WTA Contract (pro-rated from a full-time position).

Reports to: Building Principal.
