Responsibilities
- Greet, introduce and welcome participants.
- Acquaint new participants with class procedures.
- Deliver the class in a fun and interesting manner.
- Stay after class to answer questions and interact.
- Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time;
- Provide adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down.
- Instruct clients on effective workout methods;
- Explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises;
- Identifies different muscle groups, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific areas.
- Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels in order to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
- Assists clients, answers questions, and maintain a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
- Assists with the continual development, implementation and evaluation of all group exercise programs for all constituents.
Requirements
- Ability to instruct a variety of exercise programs;
- Strong teaching and presentation skills.
- Focus on customer service and strong communication skills with highly diverse population.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability in fitness and exercise risk screening.
- Must be enthusiastic and exude a desire to motivate and help others.
- Demonstrated dedication to improve your level of professionalism through growth and development in the fitness industry.
- Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
- Minimum 1 year of prior work experience in a fitness or wellness environment.
- Must hold a current group exercise certification in the class hired to teach.
- Must hold and/or willing to obtain certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
