z/OS Mainfram Admin - Only W2

Experience level: 12+ years of professional work as a Mainframe System Programmer in z/OS & ISVs. Onsite in Plano, TX preferred; remote W2 position acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard system programming activities: configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E and vendor software installations in the mainframe environment.
• Perform Operating System upgrades and RSU maintenance via z/OSMF Workflow.
• Execute z/OS version upgrades (2.x, 3.x) and ISV upgrades.
• Advanced System Management: architect, install, and configure highly complex z/OS environments and third-party software.
• Support Software Standardization and new Feature implementations.
• Support other teams in storage management, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures from a z/OS perspective.
• Collaborate with Mainframe System Programmers across tracks to enhance the mainframe environment.
• Assist team members in problem-solving, making innovative improvements, and decision-making.
• Identify and implement system and process improvements in the z/OS environment.
• Work with application support teams and other internal customers to facilitate business initiatives.
• Design project plans (upgrades, maintenance, decommissioning) with task lists for all stakeholders and communicate timelines with delivery and customer.
• Formulate roadmaps with all prerequisites to achieve project completion.

Requirements

• Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE installation of ISV products.
• Expertise in IBM and Broadcom Software product installation and upgrades.
• Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.
• Experience with z/OS V2.5 upgrades or later, including z/OSMF workflow execution.
• IODF and HCD skillset to add new devices.
• Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, AMASPZAP, DFDSS).
• Proficient in ISPF/TSO and other basic tools.
• Basic knowledge of REXX and CLIST.
• Sysplex and configuration management (good to have).
• 13 years of relevant experience.
