YouTube Video Editor (Part-Time)

The NHL Productions Digital group is seeking a versatile and dynamic YouTube editor with a passion for visual storytelling. The ideal candidate is an innovative video content creator knowledgeable about the latest trends and best practices on the platform. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, reaching millions of hockey fans worldwide through engaging video editing, clever copywriting, and creative trend awareness.
Candidates should be skilled in creating both long-form and short-form content, including engaging and dynamic vertical videos, with a passion for optimizing content to reach a diverse audience. Candidates must demonstrate strong creativity, adaptability, and the experience necessary to take a project from concept to completion, which may include writing, shooting, producing, and managing post-production tasks.
This candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NHL and possesses confident knowledge of current NHL news, trends, players, teams, and its history. Candidates are expected to understand how to create content for the game of hockey and its fans while maintaining the NHL's brand voice.
Responsibilities
- Develop and produce video content for the NHL's YouTube channels, focusing on both long-form and short-form content in horizontal and vertical formats.
- Produce, edit, and syndicate weekly and sponsored deliverables, core-NHL Digital programs, and features using Adobe Premiere and WSC Clipro, with a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Responsible for logging, creating, and maintaining well-structured season-long projects.
- Media managing and syndicating video files, ensuring they are delivered on time, organized appropriately, and backed up regularly.
- Monitor sports leagues, teams, broadcasters, and athlete accounts to identify trends, best practices, new audiences, collaborations, and ideas.
- Develop and produce content created from NHL tentpole events (Player Media Tour, Winter Classic, Stadium Series, etc.).
- Edit and produce fully-finished video packages to be posted on NHL.com foreign language websites and social platforms in a timely manner.
- Work alongside NHL.com International staff and translators to produce video content for NHL.com foreign language websites.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of experience producing multimedia content.
- 5-7+ years of experience contributing to a YouTube channel strategy for a sports brand or media organization.
- Thorough understanding of the YouTube landscape and YouTube-specific strategies, including social trends, viral sounds, pop culture, and other new and emerging platforms.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with a focus on Adobe Premiere and Photoshop; After Effects and motion graphics design is a significant plus.
- Experience with other video editing tools, including but not limited to Motion Array and WSC ClipPro.
- Strong knowledge of video formats, compression, and media management.
- Advanced knowledge of the YouTube platform, including the competitive landscape, fan consumption habits, platform features, opportunities, and SEO for titles and descriptions.
Skills
- Passionate about the game of hockey, including storylines surrounding players, coaches, teams, rules, standings, and the history of the league, as well as an understanding of hockey stats and analytics.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment while handling critical tasks in a composed and timely manner.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to independently research projects.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on the NHL calendar.

Pay
Salary range: $35–$55 per hour. Actual base pay will be determined based on experience, training, market demands, and geographic location.
