Youth Ultimate Frisbee Coach

About the Role

This is the perfect job if you have experience playing ultimate frisbee recreationally or competitively and have a passion for the game. You should be knowledgeable about the skills and tactics of ultimate or have the ability to learn them quickly.

Schedule

• Run youth practices in Evanston on Tuesdays, 5-7pm from September 8th through October 27th.
• Availability on select weekends to coach tournaments (9/13, 9/19, 9/27, 10/25).

Ability to travel or commute for practices and tournaments is required.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise, and organize participants within activities and throughout the program to meet intended outcomes.
• Apply energy and fun in working with participants through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
• Ensure participants are always properly supervised and aware of safety guidelines.
• Develop and implement activities for participants within the program’s guidelines, using the foundation curriculum to provide a progression of activities.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for participants and staff.
• Assist participants and staff with personal and/or health problems; discuss with Youth Director when appropriate.
• Monitor equipment and facilities to ensure proper care and maintenance; report needed repairs promptly.
• Act as a positive role model for participants and staff in attitude and behavior.
• Follow and uphold all safety, security, and camp procedures, including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
• Represent the program when interacting with parents or community members and provide appropriate feedback.
• Follow safety and security protocols when participants are in public while presenting a positive image of the program.

Additional Responsibilities

• Dedicate time for team logistics with the Youth Director and key departments (e.g., Marketing, Operations, Corporate Partnerships, Community Relations).
• Assign players to groups, assess their skills, and offer regular feedback to improve performance.
• Ensure all necessary forms (registration packets, waivers, fees) are in place before a child enters the program.
• Monitor daily camp enrollment and maintain accurate attendance records for staff and campers.
• Notify parents/guardians of session dates, theme days, and schedule changes well in advance; remain accessible throughout the season.
• Maintain and enforce all safety rules and policies; recognize, prevent, and correct safety hazards.
• Ensure program equipment and supplies are ordered, available, and properly maintained.
• Act as a key player in problem-solving staff/camper issues and parental concerns; identify and respond to camper behavior issues with corrective steps.

Transportation is required.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to interact with all age levels.
• Experience working with K-8th grade children preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience (staff management experience a plus).
• Camp experience is a bonus, though not required.
• Good character and ability to act as a positive role model.
• Positive communication with players, parents, and program coordinators.
