Youth Treatment Specialist Supervisor - Bakari Center

Job Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one supervision of Lead Youth Treatment Specialists and Treatment Specialists to ensure professional growth and development and youths treatment plans are followed.
• Aid in interviewing and training staff.
• Lead shift transition meetings, staff meetings, and regularly communicate with staff.
• Review and approve all documentation including communication logs, shift reports, serious incident reports as required by the funding and licensing agencies.
• Lead the implementation of the daily youth programming schedule and co-facilitate group programming.
• Ensure youth remain safe and supervised.
• Assist with investigations, evaluate, and mediate youth and staff concerns and complaints, as needed.
• Administer medication and ensure staff are aware of medication changes in collaboration with medical providers and nursing staff.
• Uphold and promote a positive and supportive culture for youth and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality within all written and verbal communications.
• Provide staff coverage for vacations, call ins, and staff shortages.
• Keep appropriate documentation for all funding sources.
• Adhere to state licensing/certification requirements.
• Adhere to WCS Policies and Procedures.

Job Qualifications

• Minimal Qualifications: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in child and youth care work or a related field, at least 21 years old, at least 3 years of experience in childcare for the type of population served, at least one year of experience as a supervisor or satisfactory completion of a supervisory skill development course, and 2 years of experience in licensed institution childcare and certification as a child and youth care worker.
• Knowledge and skills to work with population age 12-17, ability to display cultural competence, valid driver’s license, automobile, and insurance, meet all employee requirements including references, criminal background check, drug test, and driver’s license check.
• Working knowledge of positive child/youth development, patience and understanding of difficult life situations, ability to interact with escalating youth and/or parents in a calm and professional manner, ability to follow oral and written instructions, ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, perform basic computer functions, use time efficiently and effectively, ability to multi-task, sensitivity towards cultural, ethnic and disability issues.

Other Job Information

• Reports directly to the Youth Treatment Specialist Clinical Supervisor. Has contact with a wide variety of individuals including clients and family members, other program staff, vendors, and external persons and agencies involved with service provision.

Working Conditions

• State-Licensed Residential Care Center, Type II
• Local travel as required fulfilling essential functions of the position.
• Ability to take rotational 24-hour supervisory call responsibilities.
• Ability to manage young clients who have experienced a great deal of trauma and express trauma through behaviors.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Physical Demands

• Duties require possible activity while monitoring or interacting with youth in the program. Staff may be required to use physical intervention in extreme situations.
• Driving required.
