About the role
Detroit Recovery Project is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Youth Therapists to join our close-knit team. The ideal candidate will support young adults ages 18–24 in their recovery journey through intensive therapy, treatment planning, and professional casework.
Responsibilities
- Screens, assesses, diagnoses, and creates treatment plans for clients with complex needs, focusing on trauma recovery, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.
- Participates in treatment team conferences and collaborates with other professionals, family members, and referral sources.
- Researches and locates available help outlets based on clients' needs, offering both in-house and external referrals.
- Follows up on the services clients are referred to, ensuring their participation and program compliance.
- Maintains flexible hours to meet the needs of our clients and agency.
- Continuously enhances professional growth through educational programs, workshops, and current literature.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a mental health setting as a fully licensed MSW, LPC, or an equivalent combination of experience and education such as an LMSW.
- Licensed in the State of Michigan.
- Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).
- Certificate or MCBAP CAADC Development Plan (required for providing Substance Use Disorder Services).
- Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) specialized training and one year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families.
Skills
- Evidence-based, youth focused certifications: TF-CBT, DBT Training, CPT, Motivational Interviewing Certification/Training.
- Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or play therapy training.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
