Youth Support Specialist (DSP)- Youngstown

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Foster increased independence, choice and empowerment while ensuring health and safety needs are met.
• Supervise, teach and assist individuals in all aspects of their life.
• Complete various household tasks including meal preparation and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
• Provide personal care assistance.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• A personal, reliable vehicle that can be used to transport individuals served.
• A valid OH driver's license and car insurance.
• A Motor Vehicle Record meeting ViaQuest’s Authorized Driver Criteria.
• The ability to push, lift or carry up to 50 lbs., and the capacity to climb, balance, kneel and crouch.

About the Role

At ViaQuest Residential Services, Youth Support Specialists (DSPs) provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities in intermediate care facilities and their homes. The role involves fostering independence, choice, and empowerment while ensuring health and safety needs are met. Responsibilities include direct care, supervision, teaching, and completing household tasks.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• At least 18 years of age.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• A personal, reliable vehicle suitable for transporting individuals served.
• A valid OH driver's license and car insurance.
• A Motor Vehicle Record meeting ViaQuest’s Authorized Driver Criteria.
• The ability to perform physical tasks such as pushing, lifting, carrying, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching.
