Youth Support Specialist

About the role

The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Family Services Behavioral Health Program is hiring for a Youth Support Specialist position. This role offers flexible scheduling and the potential for a rewarding career in Human Services.

Responsibilities

• Aid clients (children and teens) in developing and applying skills in natural settings.
• Provide planned and/or crisis respite services.
• Help build developmentally appropriate skills to promote personal and community competence.
• Increase social and interpersonal skills of the client.
• Deliver and document services in accordance with Medicaid billing and agency standards.
• Collaborate with service providers involved in the treatment plan.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and trauma-informed practice.
• Attend weekly supervision meetings.
• Participate in mandatory and recommended training programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma, GED, or technical school degree.
• Experience working with at-risk youth or those with mental health/special needs.
• Valid NYS Driver License and access to private transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
