About the role
The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Family Services Behavioral Health Program is hiring for a Youth Support Specialist position. This role offers flexible scheduling and the potential for a rewarding career in Human Services.
Responsibilities
- Aid clients (children and teens) in developing and applying skills in natural settings.
- Provide planned and/or crisis respite services.
- Help build developmentally appropriate skills to promote personal and community competence.
- Increase social and interpersonal skills of the client.
- Deliver and document services in accordance with Medicaid billing and agency standards.
- Collaborate with service providers involved in the treatment plan.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and trauma-informed practice.
- Attend weekly supervision meetings.
- Participate in mandatory and recommended training programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma, GED, or technical school degree.
- Experience working with at-risk youth or those with mental health/special needs.
- Valid NYS Driver License and access to private transportation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
