About the Role

Monitor team sports at the YMCA or off-site locations. Teach the knowledge of the game to youth and adults while interpreting the rules, policies, and traditions of the sport to participants.

Responsibilities

• Be a team player who relates positively to all staff, volunteers, and participants.
• Observe participant and fan behavior, respond verbally to health and safety concerns, and address any improper behavior appropriately.
• Organize and manage sport setup, cleanup, and activities to deliver a quality sports experience.
• Adjust and operate sports equipment, including baskets, goals, scoreboards, sound systems, and other tools to ensure successful games and leagues.
• Contribute to a superior work culture by participating in training and staff meetings to develop leadership, management, and technical skills related to sports.
• Stay current with applicable sport rules and regulations.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for officiating and teaching the game.
• Move into correct positions to observe plays on the playing field or court.
• Perform all other assigned duties.
