JOB SUMMARY
Our Youth Sports Coach will contribute to the Y's mission by providing a safe, non-competitive, and enjoyable sporting experience for your assigned group of aspiring athletes while teaching them individual and team game skills and rules, sportsmanship, fair play, and character values. This is accomplished through building relationships and actively engaging with parents, volunteer coaches, and participants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Cultivate relationships with youth sports participants, parents/guardians/caregivers, and volunteer sports coaches.
- Plan and prepare for class including proper set up, activities, and teaching based upon established curriculum, working with volunteer coaches in the execution of program goals and a safe setting for children.
- Provide instruction, coaching, and instructional refereeing.
- Maintain and monitor spaces for safety consideration and member service.
- Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes:
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
SKILLS AND TRAINING
- Basic understanding of the fundamental skills and coaching strategies for sports which may include basketball, soccer, t-ball, baseball, volleyball, or flag football.
- Experience in a team environment playing or leading an organized sport.
- Experience working with groups of children ages 4-10 years of age.
- Energetic and engaging with small group behavior management.
- Able to work a flexible schedule in an indoor or outdoor setting depending upon the season, that includes weekends and evenings required.
- Must be at least 14 years of age.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, move quickly, and/or lift at least 30 pounds will be necessary.
- Youth Sports Coaches are required to move sports equipment such as cones, goals, and balls.

- Safety: Adhere to and enforce safety policies and procedures for the association. You may be asked to assist in an emergency situation at the discretion of the Site Supervisor or Program Coordinator.
PAY RANGE
$15 per hour
