Youth Services Librarian - Library

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares and presents programs for children, teens, and families
• Collaborates with Youth Services and Outreach teams to present programs and events for all ages both in-library and in the community
• Affords assistance with daily Youth Services Division operations
• Affords assistance with the daily operations of assigned area
• Provides exceptional service without exception
• Works collaboratively on programming and strategic initiatives
• Provides reference and readers advisory guidance through reference interviews and literature searches
• Maintains an awareness of literature services, reference sources, professional trends, methods, and ethics
• Implements knowledge of current trends in library services and programs
• Provides patrons with technology assistance, computer training, and assists patrons with self-service equipment, technology, and facilities
• Affords assistance in maintaining shelves and creating book displays, bulletin boards, bibliographies, and other informational materials
• Processes transactions involving cash through the Library’s ILS and/or cash register
• Calculates and maintains statistics and records for the department
• Uses initiative and sound judgment to troubleshoot, set priorities, and make decisions
• Serves as back-up to the Library Supervisor, when needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program
• Two (2) years of experience working in a library

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in library programming
• Experience working with youth
• Familiarity with Polaris, Library IQ, Beanstack, and/or VOMO
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
