Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares and presents programs for children, teens, and families
- Collaborates with Youth Services and Outreach teams to present programs and events for all ages both in-library and in the community
- Affords assistance with daily Youth Services Division operations
- Affords assistance with the daily operations of assigned area
- Provides exceptional service without exception
- Works collaboratively on programming and strategic initiatives
- Provides reference and readers advisory guidance through reference interviews and literature searches
- Maintains an awareness of literature services, reference sources, professional trends, methods, and ethics
- Implements knowledge of current trends in library services and programs
- Provides patrons with technology assistance, computer training, and assists patrons with self-service equipment, technology, and facilities
- Affords assistance in maintaining shelves and creating book displays, bulletin boards, bibliographies, and other informational materials
- Processes transactions involving cash through the Library’s ILS and/or cash register
- Calculates and maintains statistics and records for the department
- Uses initiative and sound judgment to troubleshoot, set priorities, and make decisions
- Serves as back-up to the Library Supervisor, when needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program
- Two (2) years of experience working in a library
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in library programming
- Experience working with youth
- Familiarity with Polaris, Library IQ, Beanstack, and/or VOMO
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
