About the role

To provide youth services, mentoring, and student leadership development programs that support the academic and social-emotional development of targeted student populations; to transport students in a safe and responsible manner.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and trains support personnel to address needs of identified students, particularly foster youth.
  • Coordinates and supervises District mentoring programs, PROUD Academy, and other equity-based youth development programs as assigned.
  • Coordinates student government and leadership development programs to facilitate student voice, anti-bullying, nondiscrimination, and safe spaces for students.
  • Coordinates and supervises individual and group youth support service programs addressing acquisition of pro-social skills, intervention, and tobacco, alcohol, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Coordinates identification process of students and links to needed services within identified programs.
  • Coordinates events that highlight and celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Provides resource assistance and information to schools, students, and parents.
  • Provides leadership and professional development regarding cultural responsiveness and cross-cultural issues that may emerge within student and parent groups.
  • Represents District on related site, District, and community activities and committees as appropriate.
  • Coordinates program activities by communicating directly with school principals, other staff, and community agencies.
  • Coordinates and supervises National Youth Sports Program activities.
  • Works directly with support staff to ensure implementation of program goals and objectives.
  • Maintains necessary records and files, maintains budgets, prepares and presents reports as needed.
  • Supervises and evaluates Youth Services Specialists and other personnel as assigned.
  • Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area (preferred).
  • Master's degree (desired).
  • Experience working in counseling or programs for youth development.
  • Experience in case management, social work, and family support (desirable).
  • Knowledge of community agencies and resources available to assist with student and family needs.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and the public, and to respect confidential matters.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and make home visits.
  • Skill and accuracy in oral and written expression.
  • Valid California driver's license and car for use on District business.
  • Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice.
  • Verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training (or obtain within six weeks of hire and annually thereafter).
  • Proof of privately owned automobile insurance and possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license (for some positions).

Pay

$136,500 - $166,264 annually (223 days). Maximum salary includes longevity and educational stipends.

Schedule

223 working days per year. Flexible hours, including home visits as needed.
