Youth Service Educational Aide
Description
Aid teachers with activities focusing on Career Exploration, assist with homework assignments, ensure understanding and accuracy, and supervise students during snack time. Assist in small group sessions covering various subjects and career exploration topics, adapting instruction to individual student needs. Work with Professional Development, teachers, and team to develop and implement educational activities that enhance learning and engagement. Participate in pre-program meetings. Create and maintain a structured daily schedule. Supervise students during program hours, implementing positive behavioral interventions as necessary. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and address any concerns or issues.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns or issues that may arise (in writing and/or verbally).
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
- Assist with program administrative tasks, including maintaining attendance records and preparing program materials (documenting in Efforts To Outcomes data system).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of various subjects and ability to provide academic support in math, science, English, and other core subjects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff members.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Ability to create and implement engaging educational activities that align with program goals and objectives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Scheduled Shift
2:30 pm-6:30 pm M-Th, Occasional Fridays 10 am- 12 pm
