About the role

The work we do matters! This position monitors the safety and security of youth at all times by completing scheduled unit walks, intervening during emergency or crisis situations using the Handle with Care system, and maintaining professional boundaries to provide a therapeutic environment. You will instruct, orient, and assist youth toward individual and program goals.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication, CPR, and first aid; take and record vital signs as needed.
• Maintain and clean the Med Room, stocking supplies.
• Document nightly activities and all significant incidents per policy.
• Regularly inspect the unit for maintenance problems.
• Perform housekeeping and office duties, including stocking units, linen rooms, and supply rooms.
• Oversee the delivery of dirty laundry, launder and secure State clothes.
• Ensure regular and consistent hand-off communication between shifts.
• Interpret, communicate, monitor, and enforce standards, program rules, and unit guidelines.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent education.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend effectively.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework or training in social work, criminal justice, counseling and guidance, human development and the family, psychology, mental health care, education, social/behavioral sciences, human services, or related areas.
• Experience in child or youth care, teaching, foster care, delinquency prevention, juvenile court systems, community work related to children and youth, behavioral health systems, patient care, nursing, or other areas involving contact or interaction with youth or families.
