Youth Program Assistant - Part-Time, Alpha - $30,000/year USD

About the role

If you're naturally skilled at re-engaging a wandering 10-year-old before their distraction spreads to others, this role may be for you. This is not a position where "assistant" means observing from the sidelines and intervening only during crises. Alpha operates a minute-by-minute compressed K-12 learning system — more accelerated than conventional schools and centered on a Guide who focuses solely on teaching. This framework functions only when someone manages the operational foundation: on-time transitions, materials staged before lessons begin, and student focus maintained before minor issues escalate into interruptions.

You'll be engaged from day one. There's no gradual onboarding phase. You'll observe the classroom, implement Alpha's approved motivational strategies (structured prompts, positive reinforcement, immediate redirection), and stage each activity so the Guide enters and begins teaching without delay. Success in this role means a drifting student returns to task before the lesson loses momentum. Performance standards are explicit: 95% on-time transitions, materials prepared for every lesson, sustained student engagement. As you gain proficiency in Alpha's system, your scope expands. Assistants who demonstrate mastery of the operational framework assume greater classroom authority — and for qualified candidates, a clear pathway to Guide exists.

Responsibilities

What You Will Be Doing

• Overseeing student transitions between lessons (approximately 30% of your time): tracking time, cueing students to transition, and applying positive reinforcement to ensure orderly, punctual movement
• Staging classroom materials ahead of each lesson by collecting supplies, arranging them according to the activity guide, and verifying the setup aligns with the Guide's specifications before teaching starts
• Supporting student engagement during structured lessons (approximately 40% of your time) by observing participation, spotting early signs of disengagement, and applying Alpha's classroom management protocols to redirect students without disrupting instruction

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Waiting passively in the background for problems to emerge — this position demands continuous active involvement and in-the-moment judgment throughout the school day
• Creating curriculum, developing activity plans, or owning academic results (those belong to the Guide)
• Improvising your own student behavior strategies; Alpha's motivational methods are standardized and must be applied uniformly
• Handling facility operations, pickup/drop-off coordination, or evening programming; your focus is classroom execution during school hours

Requirements

Basic Requirements

• Available to work on-site at our Scottsdale campus.
• Able to commit to at least 10 hours weekly, with full flexibility to select your hours during school operations (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Full-time role available.
• Prior experience working with children ages 5–14 in structured environments (schools, camps, childcare centers, tutoring programs, or coaching roles).
• Demonstrated ability to manage people, materials, and tasks efficiently under time constraints.
• Comfortable with children and skilled at redirecting behavior through positive encouragement.
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Direct experience managing groups of active children (camp counselor, classroom paraprofessional, teacher's aide, youth sports coach, or after-school program coordinator)
• Familiarity with mastery-based, competency-driven, or highly structured educational models (Montessori, project-based learning, or equivalent)
• Proven ability to maintain group schedules through positive behavioral redirection without requiring escalation to adult authority

Pay

$30/hr | Full-time option at $60,000/year with benefits

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (flexible hours within school day)

This is a part-time (15–30 hrs/week) position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $30 USD/hour, which equates to $30,000 USD/year assuming 20 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
