About the Role
As part of the Next Gen Department at River Valley Church, the Youth Pastor/Ministry Lead oversees all elements of ministry to youth (6th through 12th grade) at the Maple Grove campus, including services, events, and administration. This position also leads any Youth-specific interns and is a 20-hour-per-week role.
Responsibilities
- Be directly accountable to the Lead Youth Pastor and champion the house-wide vision for Youth ministry.
- Submit weekly Youth Reports and attend monthly Youth Pastor meetings.
- Develop and attend all campus youth leader meetings.
- Organize and run the youth ministry at the respective campus, including strategic development and leadership of Wednesday night services.
- Create and develop Leadership Teams for Youth Group, including Wednesday nights, YTH+, outreach, and Global Project efforts.
- Recruit and build connections with leaders to encourage their growth and longevity.
- Send weekly emails to Youth Leaders with service agendas and recaps.
- Coordinate and plan weekly Wednesday night YTH small groups and services in collaboration with other Youth Pastors.
- Act as the point person for Wednesday night structure and key connect cards into the church database.
- Develop interns and provide them with an excellent ministry experience.
- Be available for counseling needs with student leaders, students, and their families.
- Steward campus budget and submit expense reimbursements monthly.
- Recruit students, coordinate campus signups, and attend large youth events (e.g., Youth Camp, MYC, Revival Nights).
- Lead YTH+ during each Core Group Season and develop a team of YTH Leaders.
- Perform other campus-specific duties as directed by the Campus Pastor.
Weekend Responsibilities
- Assist in leading pre-service huddle.
- Lead engagement for staff, volunteers, and attenders before and after service.
- Be available for platform announcements and lobby engagement with newcomers and parents.
Requirements
- Proficient in administrative and leadership skills, including team management and development.
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
- Solid sermon-writing skills, including Biblical exposition.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and raise up leaders.
- A four-year Bachelor’s Degree is strongly encouraged, preferably in pastoral or ministry-related fields.
- Ministerial credentials or progress toward obtaining them; Assemblies of God credentials preferred.
- At least 2 to 4 years of related ministry experience.
