About the role
The AmeriCorps Youth Mental Health Fellow program combines AmeriCorps service and Century College coursework focused on supporting middle and high school students with individual and whole-school mental health supports. This program is open to 18-24 year olds interested in Behavioral Health career fields who are currently enrolled or committed to enrolling in the Mental and Behavioral Health Worker Certificate program at Century College.
Member Duties
- Establish and foster strong caring adult relationships with assigned student caseload.
- Provide weekly support to students through 1:1 meetings or small group facilitation aimed at increasing youth mental health, academic engagement, school attendance, and social and emotional skills.
- Proactively build relationships with teachers, campus staff, community partners, and families for a student-centered approach to support.
- Meet regularly with the site Youth Success Team to review data and identify youth to serve, track student progress, and align interventions with student needs.
- Provide attendance and behavior coaching for students targeted for needing assistance as determined through the multi-tiered system of support approach; promote positive behavior expectations.
- Maintain data collection and entry for program records, complete ongoing youth assessments, and submit weekly and monthly reports using an online database system.
