About the role

Saint Paul Municipal Athletics is hiring youth field/gym monitors at various city locations for the youth football, soccer, and basketball seasons. Monitors ensure safety, enforce rules, and maintain order during games and between events.

Responsibilities

• Maintain control of spectator behavior to ensure safety for all participants
• Assist center staff in preparing the site, including distributing sportsmanship pledges, rules, and game schedules
• Keep spectators off the field or gym floors and help maintain site cleanliness
• Check coach’s ID badges before games begin
• Facilitate the reading of the sportsmanship pledge before each game
• Remain on the field or in the gym at all times while games are in progress
• Issue sportsmanship cards to spectators displaying inappropriate behavior
• Help clear the field or gymnasium if persistent poor behavior occurs among spectators, players, or coaches
• Call police if spectators become out of control or overly hostile toward game officials, staff, fans, or teams
• Ensure spectators sit in designated seating areas during games
• Provide supervision to the field or gymnasium between games
• Keep non-players off the field or gym floors during halftime and between games
• Administer first aid if necessary and fill out Accident or Incident Reports as needed
• Wear the issued uniform and name tag at all times
• Attend mandatory training sessions when provided

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• No prior experience necessary; all training and materials will be provided
• Must effectively communicate and work well with others
• Must be punctual and maintain strong crowd control skills

Schedule

• Fall season (August–October): Saturdays 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Monday–Thursday 5:00 PM–10:00 PM
• Winter season (November–February): Saturdays 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• End-of-season tournaments: Occasional Sundays 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Pay

$17.00 per hour
