About the Role
The Youth Development Professional works directly with the implementation and delivery of year-round programs for youth and teens. This role oversees volunteer staff members, ensures member safety, maintains a visible community presence, and solicits sponsors for programs. Flexible hours, including weekends and afternoons, are required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean facility in all core program areas to ensure the health and safety of members.
- Contribute to creating a positive club climate for youth development.
- Plan and implement programs and activities aligned with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV mission, core beliefs, and vision statement.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to at-risk youth and teens.
- Manage administrative functions and assigned resources, including cash reports, monthly reports, outcome measures, rosters, attendance reports, lesson plans, pre/post testing, and program evaluations.
- Solicit sponsors for programs and special events.
- Cooperate with other divisions to promote city and city-sponsored events.
- Promote and publicize programs daily to club members, parents, and the community.
- Plan and coordinate activities with supervisors and co-workers in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Subject to a complete background investigation; incomplete or inaccurate information will disqualify the applicant.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City’s expense.
- Current valid Texas Class "C" driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must have own transportation.
- Required to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a high school diploma, GED, or equivalency (Associate’s Degree preferred).
- No prior experience required (1 year of experience overseeing staff preferred).
- Knowledge of Boys & Girls Club programs and youth development.
- Working knowledge of youth programs and general maintenance.
- Ability to work under pressure and in good physical condition.
- Strong public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Sensitivity to the needs of youth and teens.

Work Conditions
- Works indoors in well-lighted, air-conditioned buildings and outdoors to implement and oversee programs.
