Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children during program hours.
- Aid in planning, organizing, and leading age-appropriate activities, such as arts and crafts, games, sports, and educational projects.
- Support students with homework and academic enrichment activities.
- Maintain positive behavior management practices and encourage respectful interactions among participants.
- Assist with attendance tracking, snack distribution, and program setup and cleanup.
- Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, and school staff as needed.
- Follow all program policies, safety procedures, and child supervision guidelines.
- Report incidents, concerns, or behavioral issues to the Program Director or Site Coordinator.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- College coursework in education, child development, recreation, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups of children and families is important.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Successful completion of required background checks is mandatory.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and participate in recreational activities.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with youth programming and group activities.
- Conflict resolution and behavior management skills.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for working with school-age children.
- The ability to foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
