Youth Development Professional ({art-time)

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children during program hours.
  • Aid in planning, organizing, and leading age-appropriate activities, such as arts and crafts, games, sports, and educational projects.
  • Support students with homework and academic enrichment activities.
  • Maintain positive behavior management practices and encourage respectful interactions among participants.
  • Assist with attendance tracking, snack distribution, and program setup and cleanup.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, and school staff as needed.
  • Follow all program policies, safety procedures, and child supervision guidelines.
  • Report incidents, concerns, or behavioral issues to the Program Director or Site Coordinator.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • College coursework in education, child development, recreation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups of children and families is important.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Successful completion of required background checks is mandatory.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and participate in recreational activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with youth programming and group activities.
  • Conflict resolution and behavior management skills.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for working with school-age children.
  • The ability to foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
