About the role

Alpha is hiring Youth Development Coaches to work on-site at one of its campuses. The role involves guiding K-3 students in developing life skills such as communication, focus, and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Run hour-long life-skills workshops focusing on communication, focus, and feedback.
  • Coach students individually and in small groups using live learning data to ensure they meet ambitious weekly goals.
  • Assess life-skill mastery through Test2Pass and provide additional coaching until mastery is achieved.
  • Build trust with students to encourage them to attempt challenging tasks and persist when faced with difficulties.
  • Own your cohort's progress on a weekly basis using a dashboard provided by Alpha.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to work on-site, five days a week, at one of the Alpha campuses listed in this posting.
  • A Bachelor's degree in any field. A teaching certificate is not required.
  • At least 3 years of experience working directly with children ages 4-9 in settings like teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, children's theater, or similar.
  • A track record of helping young children achieve goals they previously thought impossible, with specific examples.
  • The ability to engage and maintain the attention of groups of young children, especially those aged 6 and under.
  • The ability to adapt to feedback and improve outcomes based on data and observations.
  • The ability to be accountable for your cohort's progress and use data to inform your coaching strategies.
  • Comfortable with AI handling the academic instruction while focusing on coaching, motivation, and life skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Experience in youth sports, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori, progressive education, or high-engagement after-school programs.
  • A personal history of pursuing ambitious goals and sharing success stories.
  • Storytelling or performance skills that captivate young audiences.
  • Specific examples of transforming reluctant or shy children into confident participants.
