About the role
The Youth Crisis Center Crisis Peer Support Specialist/ Safety Monitor position requires individuals who have a deep understanding of mental health crises and can provide support to youth through shared lived experiences. This role involves crisis intervention, stabilizing behavioral health needs, and maintaining the safety and security of the center.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to youth experiencing mental health crises by sharing lived experiences to promote recovery and resilience.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to de-escalate, treat, and stabilize behavioral health needs.
- Conduct client and visitor check-ins, discharge communications, and provide assistance by connecting callers to appropriate staff.
Requirements
- Peer support certificate issued by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (if not certified, see additional information).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Pass background checks, including Enhanced Fingerprinting with ID DHW.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain Optum Idaho Youth Peer Support Endorsement.
Skills
- Strong communication and empathy skills.
- Experience with crisis intervention and stabilization techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Benefits
- $18-$19/hour daytime PRN rate.
- Approximately 5 daytime PRN hours per week.
- PRN stipend for every three shifts covered within a 60-day period.
- Shifts available: Daytime, Swing, and Overnight.
