About the role

The Salvation Army is seeking a Youth Coordinator to join our team in Boyertown Corps. The position is immediate and part-time, up to 29 hours per week. Reporting to a Corps Officer, the Youth Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating The Salvation Army Youth Programs, collaborating with local schools, and ensuring the safety and well-being of youth participants.

Responsibilities

  • Represent The Salvation Army in accordance with the Eastern Territory Employee Supervise children in compliance with OCFS Regulations (Section 414).
  • Implement and oversee activities and events within the Corps and afterschool.
  • Develop and execute lesson plans and age-appropriate activities.
  • Monitor meals and encourage appropriate table manners and social skills.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain a safe, respectful environment.
  • Fulfill responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in designated child activity areas and personal spaces.
  • Be flexible and available to assist in other program areas as needed.
  • Provide instruction to students individually and in group settings using lectures, discussions, interactive learning, demonstrations, and object lessons to meet the varying needs and interests of students.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and school staff to ensure curriculum alignment with participating schools.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and physical well-being.
  • Provide educational materials and resources that encourage creativity, exploration, imaginative play, and hands-on learning.
  • Enforce all established program policies and procedures.
  • Plan and conduct balanced instructional activities that encourage students to observe, question, investigate, and engage in learning.
  • Utilize computers, audiovisual aids, and other instructional tools to enhance presentations and activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records in compliance with applicable laws, policies, regulations, and funding requirements.
  • Meet regularly with school staff to assess student progress and address individual student needs.
  • Prepare reports, statistical data, and other documentation as required.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.
  • Ensure the safety and security of students, facilities, and Salvation Army property at all times.
  • Provide timely and consistent feedback to supervisors regarding curriculum implementation through verbal updates, emails, lesson plans, data collection, and outcome reporting.
  • Participate in special events and community activities as needed.
  • Teach and facilitate music, arts, and enrichment activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred with a minimum of 2 years related experience working with children or a HS diploma/equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience of working with children.
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts as required to meet program needs including schedule changes as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, patience, creativity, and love for families.
  • Effective time management and strong organization skills are required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet research.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
