About the role

Act as the on-call services for Office of Children and Family Services executive and operations personnel during off-business hours, forwarding necessary information to Community Multi Services, Detention/Voluntary Agencies, the Public Information Office, Executive Office, and other Bureau of Classification and Movement units, as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Issue and cancel warrants and detainers through the NYSPIN system in regard to Office of Children and Family Services custody of youth.
  • Ensure that all necessary information within the Central Communications Unit (CCU) is gathered and reported accurately in an ACCESS database.
  • Forward all necessary reports, both written and verbal, to appropriate Agency personnel.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time experience as a dispatcher for a public safety agency including fire departments, emergency medical services, or law enforcement agency; or
  • One year of active-duty service as a dispatcher of military police or security personnel and an honorable discharge or under conditions in the NYS Restoration of Honor Act; or
  • 30 semester college credit hours from an accredited college or university.

Background Investigation Requirements

  • All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), including State and federal Criminal History Record Checks.
  • All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment.
  • Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
  • All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
  • For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees, a check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs will be conducted.
  • Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
