Youth Center Coordinator
About the role
The Youth Center Coordinator will manage the day-to-day operations of the Faneuil Gardens Youth Center in Allston-Brighton, supporting youth in various areas including social emotional, education, and workforce needs.
Responsibilities
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the center, including cleanliness, equipment inventory, and coordination with families on behavior and needs.
- Develops and implements programs for youth, both on-site and off-site, promoting self-sufficiency, physical health, social emotional health, and workforce readiness.
- Coordinates with community partners to deliver diverse programs and ensures smooth service delivery.
- Recruits youth to participate in programs and makes appropriate referrals to other agencies.
- Supervises youth workers in the SuccessLink program, prepares tasks, provides feedback, and mentors on work performance.
- Creates a monthly center calendar and promotional materials, conducts community outreach, and organizes events.
- Works with community volunteers and attends resident board meetings.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- A High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree and advanced training in a related field are preferred.
- Two years of experience working at a youth center with teenagers is required.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage relationships with partners and oversee contracts and grants.
- Knowledge of positive youth development using a restorative approach is required.
- A driver’s license is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in developing youth-oriented materials, are required.
- Knowledge of public housing and previous experience working with public housing youth is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with limited resources is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft systems and able to learn and utilize new software.
- Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Attentive to detail, intellectually curious, and issue-driven.
- Commitment to professional development and giving and receiving feedback.
Qualifications

Pay
Starting Salary: $36.48 per hour
Schedule
Work 35 hours per week from 1-8 pm Monday through Friday. BHA anticipates a center schedule of 3-5 pm serving children and 5-7 pm serving teenagers. BHA and the selected candidate will decide the final hours in conjunction with the tenant taskforce and youth.
