About the role

Nexus Family Healing is seeking a Youth Care Professional to join our residential program in Portland, Oregon. The program serves up to six youth aged 10-17 with mental and developmental disabilities who have been involved in the justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities
  • Mentorship and supervision of the resident's daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures
  • Participate with coworkers as a team in the implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services
  • Remain cognizant of individual client phases, privileges, restrictions, and adapt interactions accordingly
  • Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain a positive, respectful, clean, and therapeutic environment
  • Work effectively with clients' families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; follow established protocols in the use of family engagement and involvement techniques
  • Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist in the transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, and planned recreational activities

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • A desire to work in the human services field & caring for at-risk youth
  • Able to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges
  • Able to meet the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values
  • Successfully participate and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours), twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility

Pay

$23.00+ per hour

Schedule

Afternoon (2nd) shift 30 hours: Thursday - Saturday 1:00pm - 11:30pm
