Supported by the global YMCA movement, the organization is committed to elevating its people, purpose, partnerships, and promise.Role Description The Youth Basketball Official is a part-time, on-site role located in the Denver Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for officiating youth basketball games, enforcing rules, maintaining a safe and fair playing environment, and ensuring positive sportsmanship among participants. The official will arrive prepared for games, conduct pre-game checks, manage game flow, and make clear, confident calls throughout play. They will communicate effectively with coaches, players, and families, address questions or concerns in a respectful manner, and represent YMCA values on and off the court. The position may also assist with basic program coordination tasks, such as helping with game schedules, equipment setup, and supporting staff with youth sports activities as needed.Qualifications Candidates should possess strong refereeing skills and knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay.Candidates should possess communication and customer service skills to interact with youth, families, coaches, and staff in a positive manner.Candidates should possess program management awareness, including basic coordination, time management, and reliability in supporting youth sports operations.Previous experience officiating youth sports or playing/coaching basketball is beneficial.Ability to work on-site in the Denver Metropolitan Area, including evenings and weekends as required.Commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment aligned with YMCA values.CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is a plus.
