About the role

The Youth Advocate guides adolescents in their academic, vocational, and personal development through one-on-one and group support.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group counseling to help students develop appropriate behaviors, self-confidence, and improved classroom functioning
• Conduct attendance outreach via phone calls, home visits, and other strategies to improve student attendance
• Document all outreach (home visits, calls, counseling sessions) and maintain up-to-date contact information for students and families
• Hold regular sessions with students to monitor individual, family, and community issues affecting their well-being
• Maintain strong communication and collaboration with program and school staff
• Advocate for students’ rights and well-being
• Develop incentive programs to motivate attendance and academic improvement
• Facilitate workshops tailored to student needs
• Perform related duties as needed

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in a human services field
• Experience working with adolescents, preferably in a school setting
• Knowledge of Youth Development principles
• Ability to work with adolescents individually and in groups
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to attend youth development trainings
• Basic computer software skills

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
