Youth Advisory Council Member (Volunteer)

About the Role

We are seeking Youth Advisory Council Members to share their perspectives, ideas, and experiences to help guide MAP's programs, initiatives, and community impact. Members will contribute to conversations about what young people need, what is working, and what can be improved—helping ensure that MAP remains responsive, relevant, and grounded in youth voice. This is a leadership opportunity for young people who want to make a meaningful impact in their community.

Key Responsibilities

• Share perspectives and lived experiences to inform program design and improvement
• Participate in discussions about youth needs, challenges, and opportunities
• Provide feedback on MAP programs, activities, and initiatives
• Contribute ideas for new programs, events, and community engagement efforts
• Support youth-centered advocacy and storytelling initiatives
• Participate in group meetings and collaborative discussions
• Represent youth voice in a respectful, thoughtful, and constructive way

Qualifications

Required:

• Youth ages approximately 14–21 (flexible based on program alignment)
• Interest in leadership, community, or making a difference
• Willingness to share ideas, experiences, and perspectives
• Ability to participate in group discussions respectfully
• Alignment with MAP's values of dignity, respect, and community

Preferred:

• Participation in MAP programs or similar youth programs
• Interest in advocacy, storytelling, education, or community leadership
• Comfort speaking in group settings or sharing ideas creatively

Commitment

• Volunteer youth leadership role
• Approximately 5–10 hours per month
• Participation in monthly council meetings and occasional activities
• Hybrid (NYC-based with virtual participation options)
