About the Role

The Youth Activities Worker provides supervision and leadership for children in after-school and/or summer programs. This role supports program goals by ensuring a safe, engaging, and structured environment. Additional duties may be assigned to meet program and departmental needs. Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and well-being of all participants
• Supervise and engage youth in daily activities (indoor/outdoor)
• Maintain a positive, structured environment using behavior management strategies
• Build strong relationships with youth, families, and staff
• Assist with planning activities and maintaining records
• Monitor for safety concerns and report issues as needed
• Follow program policies and communicate concerns to supervisors

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required or must be a currently enrolled high school student or be enrolled in a GED program
• Six (6) months of full-time employment experience working with young children
• Certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment
• First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
• Must be eighteen (18) years old or older
• Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed
• Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check
• Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events
• Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully, including lifting up to 50 lbs

Preference will be given in accordance with Title 33 (Tribal Employment Rights) of the Tribal Code/DFWP. In the event more than one applicant meets the requirements, preference shall be given in the following order: (1) Tribal Member (2) First Generation Descendant of a Tribal Member (3) Spouse of Tribal Member (4) Indian (5) Non-Indian. For federally funded positions, preference shall be given in the order: (1) Indian (2) Non-Indian. Appropriate documentation must be submitted to receive preference.
