PURPOSE

Aid in providing care supervision and learning activities to preschool-age children in a classroom setting; assist with planning and implementing activities tailored to the needs and interests of children with special educational needs.

Work Schedule

School year
Work Hours: Shifts typically between 7:15am and 3:30pm, with exact times varying based on school needs and position allocation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs preferred
  • Flexible to meet changing student needs
  • Strong tutorial skills
  • Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently
  • Strong office computer and communication skills
  • Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
  • Experience supervising students in community settings
  • Willingness to participate in training provided by the Special Education Department
  • Preferably highly-qualified candidate

Required Education and Credentials

  • Two years of college experience from an accredited college or a two-year college degree from an accredited college
  • Pass the Para-Pro Assessment
  • One year or 1000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children
  • Annual school-level evaluations completed
  • 48 credit hours of college level classes from an accredited college
  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition
  • CDA Credential equivalent as defined by NAEYC (at least 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education)
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education
  • Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes from an accredited college
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials
