Yield and Characterization Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

About the role
GLOBALFOUNDRIES FAB 9 is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Functional Electrical Test Characterization team. This role requires an organized individual with strong communication skills. The individual will characterize signals from all sources (wafer test, kerf test, and inline), define and drive yield improvement projects while balancing business objectives. Responsibilities include working across multiple teams within and outside of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, with both direct and indirect communication with customers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor electrical performance trends, disposition of holds at electrical test, support general/urgent fab operational issues, analysis for material and change review board, abnormal product investigations, yield analysis, and improvement plans.
- Support process module engineering activities to improve cost, cycle-time, and manufacturing robustness.
- Develop and improve yield characterization and data analysis methodologies to rapidly determine yield limiters, correlation to in-line defectivity, and electrical parametric signals.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
- Understanding of semiconductor technology and solid state device physics.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a globally matrixed team or environment.
- Aggressive learner, strong team player, excellent analytical skills, and on-time delivery of assigned work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior related internship or co-op experience.
- Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
- Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter and navigate ambiguity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning & organizational skills.
- 1+ years experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Customer-facing experience.
Pay
Expected salary range: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
