Yard Worker Yard/Warehouse

About the role

This position involves yard activities such as operating a forklift, assisting customers, and maintaining inventory.

Responsibilities

• Assists customers in locating and loading product
• Reviews materials loaded against invoices or requisitions; completes and routes paperwork appropriately
• Moves product/materials throughout the yard ensuring proper placement
• Ensures product/materials are well-stocked at all times
• Performs routine yard cleanup
• Observes and adheres to all safety procedures and practices
• Attends periodic safety meetings as required
• May recommend improvements to safety procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Six months’ experience with yard tasks or similar positions
• OSHA Forklift Certification

• Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment
• Understands and complies with safety procedures
• Strong customer service skills
• Knowledge of company products/inventory
• Reads and understands invoices and requisitions

• Primarily outdoors in a yard environment
• Variations in temperature and weather
• Equipment noise and dust
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds
• Physical operation of forklift equipment
